Walk to the Rock

In July of 2023 The Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation open a path that leads to the base of Chimney Rock. With the help of the many donations  received, the site contains four (4) interconnected trails with a combined total of over two (2) miles. These trails are 10 foot wide covered with finely crushed gravel to allow them to be accessible to all for recreational purposes only. While the trails are open to the public NSHSF asks that all visitors stay on the trails and be mindful that this is still prairie land and there is potential for rattlesnakes and other dangerous species, and the trails while maintained could have uneven surfaces and steep slopes. Over the past year (2024) the trail has welcomed almost 15,000 visitors from 29 countries and 50 states.
